SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Hometown: Houston, TX

Short Bio: Taye Akinola is the first American generation to be born in America (along with his brothers). He was mainstreamed throughout his childhood and graduated from high school at the top 25% of his class. He always have a keen interest in art as he like to visit local art museums and galleries. Taye graduated from Gallaudet University with a BA degree in Graphic Design in May 2007. He did a stint at Louisiana School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge, LA as a Student Development Specialist. After getting his MA, he hope to be teaching in the field of deaf studies at postsecondary setting and to earn a doctorate degree in American Studies. 

Research Interest(s): Deaf Art (De'VIA), Deaf History, Cultural Studies, Arcitechural Design (Deaf Space), Museum Studies (and how it impact the Deaf community), Film Studies (Deaf Cinema) and American Studies

Professional/Research Goal(s): Work in a museum setting, tailoring to the Deaf community (Gallaudet University Museum); how the Deaf community impact the museum community if provided with the accomodations, become a professor in a college/university setting.
