SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Hometown: New York City, NY

Short Bio: I come from a Deaf Puerto Rican Family with one young sister. I always had full access to ASL 24/7 and I believe I do have a New York sign accent as well. I graduated from Lexington School for the Deaf. I grew up with a variety of cultures including being Puerto Rican, from New York City and as a Deaf person. I did not understand the definition of Deaf Culture until I came to Gallaudet. I learned countless things related to education in general. I completed my Bachelor Degree in Communication Studies in May 1999. Gallaudet University has planted many seeds in my life and contributed greatly to my personal growth, and I am ready to bloom after I complete with my Master Degree in May 2009.

Research interest: Into expanding more written documents on American Sign Language.

Professional/Research goals: Work and teach with hearing and deaf students in a college level. My next long goal is to reach my Ph.D one day and be able to publish my own book related to my field.
