Wanda Riddle - Alumni
SHORT BIOGRAPHY HOMETOWN: Spartanburg, SC SHORT BIO: Wanda Riddle, native to South Carolina, is an energetic person with natural wits in American Sign Language (ASL). Wanda received her BA degree from the Gallaudet University in ASL Studies, and then worked, as an intern, at the Laboratory of Language Cognitive and Neuroscience (LLCN) in San Diego, California, to bloom with greater desire of analyzing her native language. Currently, she has been working on receiving her Master’s degree in Sign Language Teaching. She expects, someday, to be a scholar in ASL Studies and ASL Curriculum Development. During her study at Gallaudet University, Wanda is also an ASL translator, ASL instructor, a freelance DeafBlind interpreter, and a research assistant of three different linguistic research projects: Children of Deaf Adult(s) Language Acquisition for Dr. Deborah Chen-Pichler; ASL Depiction for Dr. Paul Dudis; ASL Phonological Process for Dr. Gaurav Mathur of the Department of Linguistics. Wanda is also a proud Principal Investigator of her novel pilot study: Perception of Left vs. Right-handed Signers. When she is not busy, she enjoys working in the wild garden by her cottage and loves camping out in the wilderness.
SPECIALIZATIONS Research interests include: Curriculum Development of ASL as L1, Linguistics of ASL, ASL Instruction, History of ASL, International Relations, and Perseverance of Signed Language.
