SHORT BIOGRAPHY

After graduating with my BA in Deaf Studies from CSUN, I moved to the rural island of Hokkaido, Japan where I spent two years in a tiny farm town. I worked for the Japanese Board of Education for the public schools and spent my free time studying Japanese Sign Language where I also become involved with the Japanese Deaf community. After my return home to California, I worked for 5 years in the high schools and community colleges in the Bay Area before deciding it was time to enter graduate school.

SPECIALIZATIONS

Research interests include power, privilege, oppression and the practice of Linguicism of minority cultures.

Professional Goal: To continue to work in the Deaf community and research in the field of Deaf Studies.
